In short, I was a child of poverty raised by a child of poverty. Growing up, I experienced every type of abuse and neglect a child can know. I’ve often joked that the term "dysfunctional family" was created by sociologists just so they could to describe my family. Of course there’s nothing really funny about it.
As a child I could’ve personally benefited from the safe and nurturing homes of Patrick Henry Family Services where I now serve as the Executive Director. Isn’t God amazing that way. He turns our ugly pasts into glorious futures.
