1. How people appear in public may not resemble how they live in private. Hoarders demonstrate that there are troubled people hiding in our midst that could use some love and care.
2. One person’s junk is another person's obsession. Hoarding is materialism gone wild. And hoarders are its tortured victims.
3. Hoarders teach us that anyone can become accustomed to even the worst of problems instead of fixing them. The frightening truth is that most of us are unconscious of our own problems.
4. Being entertained by dysfunctional behavior on T.V. may be the next psycho-social epidemic that will need “professional” intervention. I can somewhat understand the emotional forces that drive hoarding but I am clueless as to what motives someone to watch it as entertainment.
