Each had been serving small flocks while they attended school, but were excited about trading in their newly conferred degree for larger churches. A little aggravated by the question, they looked at me a little tongue tied. Then one of the honest ones finally said, “God is everywhere. So I follow the money.” That statement told me everything I needed to know about how the Church got into its current condition.
John Maxwell believes everything rises and falls on leadership. I believe that is largely the issue. The local church is in desperate need of bold, effective leaders who serve God, and not work merely for a paycheck.
