If we substitute the word Power in that quote with the word Truth, (which is not an injustice to the quote since they are essentially the same thing) we a have an amazing recipe for strengthening all of our relationships. “Truth without love is reckless and abusive, and love without truth is sentimental and anemic.”
Love, true love, in any of its many wonderful forms, does not exist outside or apart from truth. Truth, on the other hand, means absolutely nothing if it does not flow from love. We are often admonished to speak the truth in love. But with the spirit of Jesus, who is equally full of both truth and love, we can learn how to do both well.
