They are your children. They were entrusted to you by God. You know them better, and love them more, than anyone else on the face of the earth. This doesn’t mean you’re a perfect parent, or that you’ll never make any mistakes. You most certainly will. It does mean that more than anyone else, you care about the well-being and success of your children, and therefore are the best qualified to make decisions on their behalf. Never let anyone ever convince you otherwise.
There is nothing wrong with learning from others. We can all use help in the parenting department. However, in order to be an empowered, confident parent, you must learn to recognize when others overstep their bounds and when it may be appropriate—and better—to trust your instincts and judgment. You are the real expert when it comes to your own children.
Take Away: Parents are the real experts when it comes to their own children.
