Because death is a deadline it serves as a great motivator. Since we have expiration dates, we’d better get on with purposing our lives. Yet most people tend to ignore this. Jerome Crabb said “Dying is like getting audited by the IRS – something that only happens to other people… until it happens to you.”
Death makes everyone equal. All share the same fate. No amount of money, power, or fame changes that. Death makes life very real. Would we appreciate life if there was no death? And death finally puts an end to sin and suffering, to turmoil and depravity. It was because of sin that God gave us the gift of death or we would forever live in that awful condition.
Take Away: Since we all have expiration dates, we better get on with purposing our lives.
