Ever feel that way? Sure...we all do! We don’t need any philosopher, self-help guru, or theologian to tell us what we already know instinctively – we are deeply flawed. Even with all our talent, educational attainment and sincerest desire to be better and do better, we still fail and fall; then we repeat it again, as if we learned absolutely nothing.
The temptation lies with thinking that rules, laws, codes of conduct, behavior modification, or any other externally imposed inhibitions on our freedom, will do anything more than temporarily mask, at best, what is irrevocably broken. No, the secret to self improvement is to first give up on such notions. Second, is to unconditionally surrender our broken conditions to the only One who has no flaws...other than He might love us way too much.
Take Away: The secret to self improvement is to first give up on such notions.
