The nuclear family is at risk of becoming extinct as “alternative” families and lifestyles reject the traditional family for other kinds of relationships and environments that are proving to be devastating to children. A teen suicide rate that has quadrupled in recent decades is ample evidence.
High dropout rates, young women in poverty as heads of households, violent crimes and rampant drug use by undisciplined youths – all mutually reinforcing and self-perpetuating pathologies – have become our most pressing social problem.
The changes that took place in our culture the last five decades will now take half that time. The temptations that are destroying our youth are coming at them at ever quicker speeds. We live in exponential times and we must speed up our efforts.
