“Man you have the dream job,” I told him. “Your office is a golf course, and you get paid to play golf all day.”
The veteran sighed and responded with a question, “How many 18 hole-rounds of golf do you think I play?”
Before I could calculate an estimate in the 100’s he answered, “I played 3 rounds of golf…. all of last year!” I was shocked. He went on to explain, “I spend so much time correcting other people’s golf swings and bad habits, that when I play myself, my mind is clouded with their problems that it affects my own golf swing.”
This is a great reminder for those of us on the front lines of ministry and helping others. We invest so much in helping others, we cannot neglect making ourselves healthy too.
Take Away: We invest so much in helping others, we can’t neglect making sure we ourselves are healthy too.
