Today is the day that thousands of people around the U.S. come together to both put the word into action and to recognize the change that word has brought to our communities. It is a celebration of giving, volunteering, and charitable engagement, without which, there would be a great deal more suffering and unmet need in the world.
In 1986 President Ronald Reagan first proclaimed November 15th as National Philanthropy Day. Communities across the country will celebrate with various acts of service, hosting events to recognize donors, and generally promoting a spirit of giving. Since God so loved the world that He gave, it seems appropriate we should honor those who also give to make the world a better place.
Take Away: Philanthropy is generosity and goodwill in action.
