Problems don’t go away by themselves, they need help. It’s so much easier and requires far less time and resources if the leader takes care of difficulties early on. Problems are like money, they have their own rates of inflation and it’s always wiser to pay the cost of it up front.
It’s also better for leaders to think of themselves as peacemakers rather than peacekeepers. Peacekeepers want to maintain the peace at all cost. Sometimes they do that by ignoring or suppressing the problem. But that is never a good idea. Peacemakers, on the other hand, acknowledges the problem or conflict, confronts it head on, lets it come to the surface and deals with the troubling issues as soon as possible. That is true leadership. That’s what we need.
Take Away: Problems are like money, they have their own rates of inflation and it’s always wiser to pay the cost of up front.
