I believe all nonprofits must learn to do what we have done, or at least do their work with fewer government dollars. If they haven’t already seen cuts, they will in the coming years. Nonprofits must also diversify their funding sources and look beyond donors for help because they’ll see fewer donors and they’ll have fewer discretionary dollars to give.
There’s a “new norm” that’s developing. The next decade will decide the fate of many organizations. With one hundred new nonprofits starting every day, there will be more pressure to succeed with fewer dollars. As the CEO of Patrick Henry, I’m trying to prepare us for the new norm. I’m committed to making us strong enough to survive and thrive; for our sake but especially for the sake of those we serve.
Take Away: The next decade will decide the fate of many organizations.
