Young children can start by picking up their toys, help set the table, or feed the dog. Older children can wash the car, take out the garbage, or mow the grass. The idea is to keep making the jobs more significant and meaningful. Don’t give children busy work and don’t use work to punish...those will only teach them to hate and avoid work.
Every child needs to work, needs to know the responsibility of a schedule. They also need to see the connection between work and reward. But you must start when they are young and want to help. If you wait till they are older and able to work, by then they won’t want to.
Take Away Quote: It’s never too early to teach children a work ethic.
