Someone came to the door selling Peanut Brittle as a fundraiser at a dollar a box. I thought it a chance to impress my future father-in-law with what a nice guy I was, so I bought a box. After I paid the guy, I turned around expecting affirmation of my character. Instead he said, "I hope you're not going to waste money like that when you're married to my daughter." I laughed. I thought he was joking. He wasn't.
For several Christmases, I gave him a box of Peanut Brittle as a gift. He still doesn't think it's funny. I still think it is never a waste of money to help people.
Take Away: It is never a waste of money to help people.
