Give some people an inch and they will take a mile. You know who I am talking about. These self-centered individuals are never pleased with what they are given - they demand more and more – always stepping beyond the bounds of propriety and decorum. Give these entitled folks one small inch of generously or kindness and they will find ways to finagle another 63,360 inches (that’s how many inches are in a mile) and they will do it without even one inch of gratitude.
Of course, if we are completely honest with ourselves we must admit that we are sometimes those people. So, let each of us from this day forward commit to living the reversal of this well-known proverb. Let us be people who take an inch but give a mile. Let us vow to be people who take very little from our neighbors and when we do, give back to them tens of thousand times more in return.
