Did you know that November is National Foster and Adoption month? In America there are over 400,000 children currently in foster care, and over 100,000 children waiting (and wanting) to be adopted. Each year more than 30,000 of these children grow up and age out of foster care, never realizing the dream of having a family they can call their own. The personal cost to these children and the social burden that is placed on society is unthinkable.
I am very excited that Patrick Henry Family Services is partnering with the Foster Hope Foundation to host the annual Foster Hope Conference, Saturday, November 14th. The event will be held at Blue Ridge Community Church in New London from 9am to 3pm. There will be vendors and resource booths from local agencies, as well as great workshops designed to encourage and equip foster and adoptive parents. I'm honored to be the keynote speaker this year.
If you or someone you know is a foster/adoptive parent, or have ever considered becoming a foster/adoptive parent, I encourage you to attend. For more information visit fosterhopeinc.org.
