This mostly preventable disorder occurs during the formative years of childhood or adolescence, and its symptoms will continue to grow in severity throughout their adult life. What is this condition? It’s called the Father Wound. It’s caused when a father is physically or emotionally absent from their child’s life. It begins with the pain of rejection, and left untreated develops into a variety of problems: anger, depression, sexual disorders, relationships problems, insecurity. The list goes on.
About forty-eight percentage of all children today will go through some of their childhood without their daddy. There are many reasons, but the results are the same – a lasting wound. Let’s pray that the hearts of all fathers turn toward their children, and heal the hurt.
