Meanwhile Nick’s conscientious wife, worked hard to teach her house of young boys the value of fresh vegetables and good food. It all clicked when Nick found dirt through our maintenance department and their boys jumped at the opportunity to help grow their own food.
I’ve marveled at both the fun and life lessons being learned. Cantaloupe, cucumbers, beans, pumpkins and watermelon are now growing under the watchful eyes of these delightful boys. Like the proverb says, “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Take Away: It’s amazing what can be done with an old pool, lots of dirt, and energetic boys.
