As a Christian, I affirm love, peace, and tolerance. These virtues make this a better world to live. Believe me, I’m all for them. Yet, I also believe there some things we should hate. There some things that must be hated. In other words, hate has a place. Hate has a role. However, hate must always serve the purposes of love. Hate that stands apart from love is unhealthy, dangerous, and evil.
For example, I love my children, and because I love my children I hate anything that would harm them. This is healthy hate. Hate in the service of love protects, guards, and defends. You see, I hate the things that should be hated, because I love the things that should be loved.
Take Away: Hate that does not serve the purposes of love is unhinged and dangerous.
