Monkey see, monkey do. If you’re a parent you know that euphemism certainly applies to small children, and older children, and teenage children. Children see, children do. That universally known fact should alert us today to mind our P’s and Q’s when around our impressionable offspring.
However, doesn’t monkey see, monkey do, also apply to adults as well? Sure. It really applies to everyone. People see, people do. If that isn’t true then billions of dollars are being wasted every single day on marketing soaps, and clothes, and cars, and pills to reduce our cholesterol, and, well, you get the point.
People do what people see. The application for us Christians being that people would rather see a sermon than hear one. Each and every one of us is a walking, talking, interactive advertisement. Every day we are alive we are a living, breathing, marketing machine. The question we must ask ourselves today is – just what exactly are we selling? Is it us, or is it Jesus?
Take Away: People can’t buy what we aren’t selling.
