What we are seeing is a shift away from community, tradition, and authority and toward an expressive type of individualism where people are following after what they desire and feel. This doesn’t bode well for the church, or for marriage, the strength of which depends on both being healthy.
However, there is cause for celebration. Statistics show that people who work diligently, attend church with their spouse regularly, who are emotionally engaged in their marriages, and don’t abuse drugs or alcohol, have a pretty slim chance of getting divorced.
Take Away: Church and marriage go together like a horse and carriage.
